Our attitudes and thoughts about life often reflect our fundamental, instinctual positioning regarding resources. The resources I am referring to can be anything in life such as food, money, partners or even luck.

If we are positioned to reflexively think that resources are scarce than we pursue them out of fear. We are always worried that there is not enough of anything to ‘go around’. Fear can be a great motivator but can also be troublesome. Rather than enjoying what you have you are continuously seeking more and hoarding resources.

As Sheryl Crow once said ” It’s not having what you want, it’s wanting what you got”. Think about this for a second - this is really powerful!

“It’s Wanting what you Got”

You may very well already have everything you need and want all around you but cannot process the fact that that’s it - there ain’t no more!

Part of the problem for me is that if this is it, than what in the world should I work towards. I am an idealist and forward thinker. The past is often a little fuzzy for me.

Back to scarcity. If you are always head down collecting nuts you may never even notice when winter is over and spring arrives, you just keep collecting out of fear. Unfortunately, some people end their days this way - very sad.

By actively positioning your mind to believe that there is and always will be an Abundance of resources not only will you experience less stress but it’s possible your ‘Luck’ improves. If you buy into the ‘Law of Attraction’, which originated in Hinduism and was recently revisited in The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, you may well find yourself richer in many ways.

We have some friends who follow the Scarcity Principle. They are always worried about other people are making more money, have better cars, houses…. Common phrases in conversation include “that’s not fair”, “poor me/us”. Good people but overwhelmed by scarcity. Pleasurable activities are always shadowed by the cost. We have slowly moved away from these people as we have found that the negative vibe can be contagious and we are not yet strong enough not to succumb (at least temporarily) to the negativity.

We are trying hard to position our minds to believe in the Abundance Principle. There is enough to go around and even enough to share. When it comes down to it we truly have everything we need already around us.

Go on and enjoy life, work hard, have fun, share.
